The is awesome, it works great and is blazing g fast. I am not sure what the other people are trying to do with it or why they are having problems, but I have Tmobile as my phone service and use this hotspot when I don't have Tmobile signal. It uses AT&T LTE and works great. I streamed HD movies and ESPN college football this weekend while camping and it worked flawlessly. To the person that Said it doesn't work with Verizon, no kidding GSM it works with AT&T. (Posted on 9/21/2015)

Unfortunately, I have the same problem as others who have recently provided a review for the ZTE Z289L by Straight Talk service. It reports the device provides coverage in my area, and AT&T is actually a better provider than Verizon when it comes to service availability in the area. I am unable to access most internet sites because the browser freezes when the device shows LTE service. It actually worked great on the one occasion when the device was using 4G. Unfortunately, I have not been able to access 4G coverage since then. I literally wasted hours of time for a week trying to get the browser to work using this device. This was time I did not have to waste. I bought a AT&T hotspot device and have no issues with the browser. I have a feeling the device is defective. I hope the company will refund or replace these devices given this appears to be a wide spread issue. (Posted on 8/16/2015)

This product is labeled for lte but when it shows any lte bars at all, it stops browsing. I did not know the conditions when it would and would not browse, so when I called tech support at ZTE, I could only tell them it sometimes would browse for a little while. I did ask whether I bought the wrong device, that I believe I needed a device to work with Verizon lte. The people seemed very helpfu, said device not defective and that it is some problem with service, so I would have to call the service provider. So then I called Straight Talk hotspot support several times. On the fist call I asked whether I had bought wrong device for working in my area with verizon lte and they said this zte z289l should work for me here, and it may have been that first call to Straight Talk or possibly the second call they told me to do a reset of the device. I did reset and then it did browse but of course when I got off the phone it stopped browsing. But using this hotspot my tablet was always able to sync and update and went through the first gigabyte of data almost completely doing constant updating in the first week, before I saw how to turn off both sync AND auto update apps (in google store settings). Sfter I new to do reset of the device, I could browse for a few minutes at a time, when a page would not load, I would reset one or more times until the page would load. Then I called Straight Talk again to discuss this abnormal browsing, having to reset the device several times to browse for half hour. That time Straight Talk told it was something wrong with the browser itself, that I should use Chrome and it might need an update. Did that, didn't help. Finally we had a time of browsing when signal on device said 3g for quite a while--and during thst time all browsing worked, pages did load, but as soon as the device showed the lte symbol again, it stopped loading the page. I just called Straight Talk again, this time the person said THIS DEVICE WORKS WITH AT&T, not Verizon, and that I need to buy a different brand, unimax, to work with verizon lte. If that is true, why is it not possible to find out from ZTE, from WalMart, or from Straight Talk either BEFORE buying or on the first call when I even asked that very question? And if that isn't true, why can't one of these companies, ZTE or ST tell people what to do to fix the problem? I am not alone in having this particular problem, a review on Amazon among others described exactly the same issue of no browsing with device showing LTE.

I bought this through Straight Talk and can't get a signal. I get one bar or(or dot) and cannot connect to the internet, although Straight Talk tells me they are getting a strong signal for my zip code. I can't get anything from your company to let me know what, if anything, I can do to boost the signal. I get a strong signal for the Verizon Mi-Fi, however. I would really appreciate an answer as I have spent a lot of money for a data package I can't use as well as the purchase of this useless hot spot. (Posted on 8/7/2015)
