I bought my Blade Spark in Apr 2018. I like the weight of it as it is easier to handle than those lite weight phones that seem to fall every time the wind blows. I was on-board with ZTE until I came across these issues...
1) the phone is locked and I can't dump the useless apps on it that eat into my 16GB on ROM.
2) ZTE needs to offer larger installed ROM than 16GB. Technology is only a few years away from requiring smartphones to have a minimal of 64GB... right now, I'd be happier with 32GB so I wouldn't have to choose between which apps stay and which I have to delete.
3) my screen separated from the frame/chassis. my guess is that the build up of internal heat to be the root cause.
4) warranty repair is too slow. I had to send it FedEx and it takes 5 days to assess and process. that's too long to be without a phone. ZTE needs local authorized repair centers to quickly assess if it is a warranty issue and repair or replace it on the spot.
with all that said, it is still a good value... and with a few tweaks (unlocked & 32GB), it would be awesome. (Posted on 6/19/2018)
I had a phone mishap and had to replace my phone fast as my job requires me having one. I have always had Samsung but was being cheap and didn't want to pay $800 for a phone (revolting against the big wireless companies) So I started thinking about how far technology has come and that all phones will be pretty much the same.
Nice, big screen
Easy to use/navigate (Android)
The fingerprint function is way to sensitive. So anytime you have it in your pocket if the sensor is facing in toward your leg it sets off the sensor and after so many times it locks the phone for several minutes.
The speaker is poorly placed. If you hold your phone with one hand typically you have your pinky finger cradling the base of your phone. This is where some genius decided to put the mic.
My BIGGEST PROBLEM with my first and last ZTE is that I have had this phone 2 months. I have not dropped it and it has not been exposed to water. All of the sudden my home button and open tab button (whatever it is called) no longer works. Yes, I powered off and on several times. Not only did the buttons stop working but it also changed my settings. I no longer see any notifications, it reverted to vibrating screen touch and again 2 of the 3 bottom buttons no longer work. Maybe it doesn't sound like a big deal but it pretty much negates internet searches because if you get very far into a site you will then have to arrow back through every page that you have reviewed.
I searched for a phone thinking about great startup companies that were new but quality products (few years back, Vizio) ZTE is not Samsung! I have never had so many problems with a phone. I do not recommend the time, set up or frustration of ZTE. (Posted on 6/6/2018)
Would give it 5 stars but the signal strength isn't as great as my last phone. But I went fishing with my kids and hubby and dropped it in. It took me 5-10 mins to find it in the cold water. And 2 days later it still works the same! (Posted on 1/8/2018)
I have to say first of all great build on the phone. Love the screen size and camera. Love the fingerprint sensor also. My only con I have with the phone is the low volume on speaker and low call volume. (Posted on 9/4/2017)
