ZTE USA, headquartered in Richardson, Texas, is a subsidiary of ZTE Corporation, a global provider of mobile devices, telecommunication systems, and enterprise solutions. Operating since 1998, ZTE USA is dedicated to making cost-efficient, quality communication technology accessible to all. ZTE is ranked by independent industry analysts as the fourth-largest supplier of mobile devices in the U.S. overall, and second-largest supplier of prepaid devices.
In 2012, ZTE was ranked #2 among Chinese companies for global Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) by Fortune magazine. As is the tradition of the company to invest in the communities in which it operates, ZTE USA also contributes to community-based organizations in the U.S., such as:
- Spofford, a residential home in Kansas City, MO that offers preventative and therapeutic services to
children suffering the effects of abuse and neglect.
- The Cricket Charity Golf Tournament, held to raise funds for families dealing with cancer at Rady Children’s
- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County, Texas.
- And now, Houston-based organizations in conjunction with the Houston Rockets.
This year, ZTE USA has teamed up with the Houston Rockets to support its 2013 Season of Giving program. Throughout this holiday season, Rockets players, coaches and staff will host a series of events for hundreds of children and their families in the greater Houston area in order to give back and spread cheer to those who need it most.
From middle Nov. to late Dec., ZTE and the Rockets have hosted three community events and one charity night game.
On November 26, the partners invited children from the Boys and Girls Club, Casa de Esperanza and Kids Meals to a movie night with Dwight Howard, where kids got to enjoy a pre-Thanksgiving meal and private screening of the newly released animated movie “Free Birds” with the Rockets’ star.
Then on December 3, ZTE and the Rockets brought kids from the Boys and Girls Club together with Dwight Howard, Terrence Jones, Francisco Garcia and Ronnie Brewer to go on the holiday shopping spree of a lifetime.
Lastly, the Season of Giving program culminated in a Bowling Night on December 17th where kids will get to bowl against James Harden, Patrick Beverley, Aaron Brooks and ZTE volunteers.
“We know that the Houston Rockets share our desire to give back to the community. That’s why we are so excited to have teamed up for this year’s Season of Giving program to give local children an unforgettable experience with their favorite Rockets players and holiday gifts they might not otherwise receive,” Lixin Cheng, CEO, ZTE USA. “Season of Giving allows us to further our long-standing tradition of serving the communities in which we work and live.”
